Boho Fedoras, Handmade in Perth

Hats with a past,
made for what's next.

JHATS_CO takes a good fedora and makes it yours — hand-customised with pre-loved jewelry, forgotten trims, and treasures found in nature along the WA coast and bush. Every piece already had a life before it found its way onto a brim. Worn every day, or saved for the one night you'll remember.

Made from things that were already made once.

How a hat gets here

From forgotten
to finished.

Every JHATS_CO piece follows the same path — nothing is manufactured to order, only found, honoured, then made new.

01

Source

A base fedora is bought online — chosen for shape, quality and fit, ready to be made one-of-one.

02

Salvage

Pre-loved jewelry, trims and buckles are pulled from op shops and small stores; feathers, shells and driftwood are gathered outdoors around WA.

03

Customise

Each hat is cleaned, trimmed and finished by hand into a one-off design — for daily wear or a specific event.

04

Wear

It leaves the workbench ready to be worn in — carrying its past life quietly into its next one.

The Collection

Three ways to
wear a story.

Every fedora is built for a life — the coastline you walk daily, the occasion you'll dress up for, or the night you won't forget.

Day to Day

Coastline

Earthy, easy customs built for real wear — woven bands, found charms and quiet hardware, softened in for daily life by the coast.

Build Your Own

Customise your own hat.

Pick a base felt colour, and JHATS_CO builds the rest by hand — trims pulled from pre-loved jewelry that already had a first life, finished with things the land gave up along the way. No two builds are ever repeated.

About JHATS_CO

Built on things that already had a life.

JHATS_CO started with a simple habit: picking up things other people had put down. A worn leather belt at a Vic Park op shop. A tarnished buckle from a Fremantle estate clearout. Feathers turned up on a walk through the Perth Hills.

There's something spiritual in that — giving a second life to jewelry and trims the world had already loved and let go of, and to pieces the land offered up along the way. Every fedora starts as a quality base bought online, then gets hand-customised: trimmed, restitched and finished with materials that had already lost their original purpose.

Nothing here is mass-produced or repeated. It's a small, Perth-based practice built around a bigger idea: the best details are usually the ones someone else stopped using. Every finished piece carries the JHATS_CO mark — stamped by hand, one at a time.

My Story

The hands behind JHATS_CO.

I'm Juanky, Spanish, a traveller, a little bit crazy, and the guy behind JHATS_CO. My story, and this project's story, are tied to more than 6 years in Australia: op shops, and the first hat a good friend gave me, which sparked a new identity in me, one a lot of people have recognised me by for years, and one I'm deeply grateful for. I believe seven out of ten people or more look good in a hat, and I love watching people discover that, the same way I discovered it myself a few years back.

On top of that, a creative energy I'd kept tucked away finally woke up, fed by the inspiration and lessons I've picked up from incredibly creative, talented friends, plus a few sewing lessons from my mum. This project was born at the end of 2025, and I plan to keep creating unique pieces, most of them from materials that already had a life and are now rescued, alongside a growing community of people who love wearing a hat, every day and at every event.
